In 1992, the California legislature adopted an algebraic formula to calculate child support. It is based on the incomes of both parents and the amount of time the child spends with each parent.
A computer program called the DissoMaster™ was soon developed to calculate the support using the algebraic formula as its basis. The DissoMaster, among other things, calculates net incomes by factoring in tax deductions. This program was widely used and support calculations were soon branded as The DissoMaster. Over time, a number of new programs have been developed and approved by the CA legislature as valid in support calculations.
Many family law Judges and attorneys now favor a software called X-Spouse™ and that is the calculation we now offer. None the less, we have so many requests for the child support formula that we offer it to you here. Many of you who visit the site are techies, so you may be able to use this formula. If not, and you don't mind spending the $99, we can run the numbers for you.
The Algebraic Formula Approved by the Legislature:
CS = K (HN - (H%)(TN))
